wooden horse brushes
We use wood for the bodies of our horse brushes.
Not only because it looks classy and is a sustainable raw material, but also because it is much more hygienic than plastic or rubber.

What this means for you: Little effort when cleaning and still optimal hygiene for your horse.
Wood has an antibacterial effect, which is particularly useful in horse care. The reason for this is that the natural ingredients (polyphenols) kill the bacteria. This has already been proven in many studies, such as that by Dr. Dean Cliver at the Food Safety Laboratory of the University of Wisconsin.
cleaning horse brushes
in 6 steps
1. Pre-cleaning of the brushes
First, remove the surface dirt by gently tapping the brushes on a solid surface. Alternatively, you can brush the brushes together to remove coarse dirt.
2. Optional: Disinfect the bristles
We recommend that you spray the brush with disinfectant every 2-3 washes. You can buy this at drugstores or specialist shops for care and hygiene products. Run your hand through the bristles and apply the disinfectant over a large area.
Wait 1-2 minutes and proceed to the next step.

3. Rinse the bristles
Wash the bristles under a jet of water. Ideally, the water should be lukewarm. You can also use a water hose to rinse brushes that are used to remove coarse dirt. Run your hand through the bristles and wash them until only clear water runs through the bristles.
4. Clean dirt on the brush body with a cloth
If there is dirt on the body of the brush, you can remove it with a damp cloth. Further cleaning is not necessary as you benefit from the antibacterial effect of the wood.
5. Cleaning the belt
In principle, the leather strap does not always need to be cleaned. However, you can also wipe it down with a damp cloth. It is important to moisten the entire leather strap and not just certain areas. You can occasionally apply leather care or olive oil to the strap.
This keeps it nice and supple and gives it an extra portion of shine

6. Let the brush dry thoroughly
It is important that you allow your brushes to dry completely after washing. A dry place is recommended for this (but not in the sun or on the radiator). The brush should be placed on a towel to dry with the bristle side facing down so that any water that has penetrated the brush body can drain off. Do not use the brushes again until the bristles are completely dry.
... your brushes will look like new again in no time and offer optimal hygiene for the care of your horse.
